The last two days have had very small numbers, but been important and tough days. I’ve started having problems with a whole lot of different areas, but these two days have been about figuring out how to ride despite those problems. The good newsis that it seems like they’re mostly in hand. My feet are feeling a lot better, my knees are feeling a little better due to my nightly maintenance, and my Achilles seems to have stabilised (probably the power of salami that I’ve been infusing it with). The ring of blisters around my quad is bursting, and a few other things are stabilised or improving. Now I just need to ramp up effort and distance again, and things will be great. The big question at the moment is whether that can happen in time for the finishers party or not. Also, these last two days have been in such a beautiful part of the world.Anyway, plan now is a good night’s sleep followed by Timmelsjoch in the morning
You can be honest with us Rowan. We’re all friends after all. I think it has been your plan all the way along:
* ride reasonably quickly while the countryside is reasonably beautiful
* acquire a series of injuries to enforce a slowdown when the countryside turns spectacular.
Brilliantly conceived and masterfully executed! We’re so proud of your foresight, and dedication to the plan. BRAVO!!!!!
good morning sir rowan, i have looked for the “movement” of nr. 60 – and, you are nearly close to the last checkpoint, alp d’huez i think, nearly; hard stuff and i hope all your injuiries will allow everything; when is the party and how does nr. 66 do this job – unbelievable; is she sleeping on the bike? in my eyes a little bit crazy; good luck for the next days – d+u
