Brute force and zip ties

Quick update from the road – got to the start, great atmosphere, great fun, beautiful girl to send me off, all good.

Half way through the parade lap, technical issues. Dodgy fix to at least get me onto the road, sort of worked. Started cramping half way up the Muur. That’s less than 10km into a 4000km race and I was cramping already. Fantastic riding it with the sides lined with crowd holding burning torches though.

Kept going, technical issues recurred. Eventually found the guy in the photo, who helped with a temporary fix with his stapler.

Issues recurred. Was leapfrogging a pair – kept pedalling past only to have them pass me again when I stopped to try and fix it again.

Finally found success with a combination of brute force and zip ties. Is there anything that those two can’t fix?!?

Stopping for a quick sleep now, will lose places tonight, but I think it’s the better long term plan!

  1. Hey Rowan

Bad luck about the start though great to see you overcame the issue with strength and quality parts.

Not good about the rider dying in tge race. Haven’t heard anything back here though will let you know if I hear anything.
Stay safe, rest well, ride well
    Cheers
